Follow the Song of the Ocean

Spend a week in Sodwana Bay, South Africa, where wild ocean encounters and time in nature come together in something truly special. This trip is about adventure, discovery, and real moments with the sea – in waters that are as alive and rich as any on earth.

This Trip is for you, if you like the following:

Whale Songs

Heads down, we’ll listen to the vibrating songs of migrating humpback whales. The trip takes place in the middle of their migration, providing the best chances to even see these gentle giants from land. Witnessing their songs and their artistic jumps will leave us with life-long memories.

Marine Wildlife Safaris

On our private zodiac boat we’ll explore the waters of the Marine Protected Area that surrounds Sodwana Bay - full of life and always up for very special encounters. Sodwana Bay is well known for the curious and playful dolphins that live there - while no interaction with wildlife can ever be promised, in Sodwana Bay ANYTHING can happen

Getting Back to What Matters

Take a breath and tune back into the ocean, the natural world, and yourself. Leave the chaos behind and experience something real and alive. Let the sea set the pace, not your watch. This isn't about running away – it's about coming home to something authentic.

Small Group Experience

With a maximum of 8 guests, this trip maintains a personal atmosphere far from touristic crowds. This limited capacity allows for manageable group dynamics while ensuring each participant has ample opportunity to appreciate the experience. Our goal is to create exclusive gatherings that avoid overcrowding and deliver genuine, memorable moments.

Pure Adventure for all Levels

This isn't a dive trip – it's about deep experiences, not deep water. You don't need any ocean skills. Our two guides and skipper keep you safe, and we'll ease you in at your own pace, even if it's your first time. Anyway, in-water-confidence should be given prior joining.

Ocean Ethics

As Ocean Lovers,, we aim to show the right way to do things, and we're counting on you to help us maintain that standard! We take wildlife respect seriously, and everyone we work with does too. When we're out on the water, we never chase or disturb the animals – we let them behave naturally and decide about potential interactions.

How the week unfolds

  • This day is all about easing in. We'll meet the group and settle into the rhythm of South Africa's wild coast. In the evening, we'll cover safety, ethics, and what to expect out there. The goal is simple – make sure everyone feels comfortable and ready for the ocean encounters ahead.

  • The ocean calls the shots for our time in Sodwana Bay. Whether it takes us out to open water or keeps us closer to shore, we'll follow the best conditions for authentic encounters. With whale songs vibrating through the water, we'll be out there ready for whatever magic unfolds. As part of our core values, we prioritize respectful encounters and let nature lead our interactions.

  • We wrap up with an easy final morning – no rush, just a big breakfast together and space to look back on the week. Time to share favourite moments and soak it all in before saying goodbye. For your onward travel you leave with more than just photos and new skills – you take home the memories, the connections, and a different way of seeing the ocean.

  • If weather keeps us off the water, we'll shift gears and head to Tembe Elephant Park – a nearby reserve that's home to the BIG 5 and co-run by the indigenous Tembe community on their ancestral land.

No Pressure. If it’s a fit, we’ll share availability and next steps.

A typical day

  • Breakfast together on our sea-view terrace, a quick morning briefing to check conditions, then we're off to the boat to explore the ocean

  • Ocean safari running 2 to 4 hours – we let the sea and the group's energy guide the timing – with light snacks either on the boat or back at the beach.

  • Afternoons back on land give you time to unwind, hit the beach, or explore the wetland national park we're nestled in, before we'll gather for dinner that is cooked up together.

  • In our community base we can hang out together in the evening. For those that are rather looking for privacy after dinner, it’s up to everyone doing his or her own thing.

Wildlife Ethics & Our Safety

We let the animals set the terms. Out here, the ocean calls the shots, and wildlife decides how close is close enough. We hang back, move with intention, and wait for curiosity to come our way instead of forcing it. No performances, no rushing in for the moment – just genuine encounters that unfold because we're patient enough to be welcomed. It's not about ticking boxes or collecting stories. It's about respecting what's surrounding us, respecting privacy. And guess what?! This is just when the door opens to experience those raw and real encounters - trust us!

We approach every day like lifeguards do – steady, aware, and one move ahead. Each morning we assess the conditions – swell, wind, currents, visibility, how the ocean's feeling – and pick the right moments to get in. Groups stay tight and well-managed, with clear talk-throughs, straightforward systems, and a rhythm that values comfort over rush. There's nothing to prove out here. Just be solid in open water, stay tuned in, and lean on the guidance – we've got the rest covered so the ocean can stay wild while you stay safe.
